I ran an editorial illustration facebook group for five months (it’s closed now!) in 2014 and here are the briefs I set. It was a great idea to help me and my friends get practise doing editorial work…I’ve since got real jobs in editorial (see portfolio) and hopefully lots more to come.

You can make it as general or specific as you want.

This month it’s all about Music!
Make an illustration for brief 1 or 2 (or both).
1.
Draw a pic for your favourite band that they can use on a t-shirt. Include the band name (hand-lettering) and draw whatever else you want.
You can make a mock up of the image on a t-shirt if you want to be extra fancy but that’s optional.

2.
Draw a cover pic to go with this article on musical education in school:
