August 22nd and 23rd, 2022, online
I attended a 2 day workshop led by Antonio Terlizzi for NTAA all about pre production design for animation.
We focussed on dissecting the script (in this case a sample of writing from the Agatha Christie novel And Then There Were None); creating a mood board; making some concept sketches; playing with them and developing one sketch into colour, referencing back to the chosen style in your mood board. It was so much fun.
Antonio told us about his work as a concept artist and gave us a workflow idea to use to build up a concept art portfolio. (Do the workshop format on repeat with different styles for different audiences). So helpful! He also gave lots of individual feedback at each stage which was great. Nothing like a workshop every now and then to give you a bit of a boost.
Here are the images – final colour sketch, preliminary sketches, volumetric study, script reference sample and mood board.
